Miyazato falls to Tseng 3rd time

Date Posted: 2012-03-30

Golfer Ai Miyazato is clinging to her #7 world ranking this week, days after losing to Taiwan’s Yani Tseng for a third consecutive tournament.

Tseng won the Kia Classic in Carlsbad, California, with a six-stroke 2-under 70, becoming at age 23 the second-youngest player to score 15 Ladies Professional Golf Association tour victories. Nancy Lopez was 22 when she achieved the feat. Tseng won the LPGA Founders Cup a week ago in Phoenix, and before that the LPGA Thailand trophy, with Miyazato on her heels each time.

Miyazato finished in fifth behind South Korea’s Sun Young Yoo, China’s Shanshan Feng and South Korea’s Jiyai Shin. Tseng took away $255,000 with the victory, while Miyazato put $64,156 in her pocket.
