Kariyushi wear fashion show heralds spring

Date Posted: 2012-03-30

It must be spring in Okinawa, as the local fashion industry has staged its annual Kariyushi Wear Fashion Show.

Eleven companies unveiled their 2012 Kariyushi wear designs, a total of 23 new products at the show held in the lobby of Okinawa Prefecture Offices. The new fashions included bright colors and designs, including Bougainvillea, corals and Fragrant Olive.

The impromptu fashion show marks the start of Kariyushi Wear Promotion Month. It begins April 1st.

“Kariyushi wear is becoming more popular step-by-step,” says Hirokazu Nakaima, Okinawa’s Governor. “…but we want to get ideas from everybody to make people wear it even more in the future.” The governor says “our goal is to get all people in the world, regardless of age or gender, to wear Kariyushi wear.”
