Yachimun Pottery Market opens at Moon Beach

Date Posted: 2012-03-16

The 19th Yachimun Market is operating this weekend at Moon Beach with a presentation that features 719 different pottery pieces that have been seen—and often purchased—from the 143,000 visitors counted during the last market.

Forty-six of Okinawa’s potters are gathering for the three-day market, offering explanations of their creations, as well as sales pitches on why visitors should purchase them. It’s one of the largest pottery markets on the island, operating from the Moon Beach Hotel in Onna Village. Visitors will be able to try their hand at working the potter’s wheel between 11 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. on a first-come basis.

The 19th Yachimun Market at the Moon Beach Hotel operates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A product fair will be offered at the same venue in Onna Village.
