Haebaru-Cho Establishes Summit Promotion Council

The ward of Haebaru-Cho recently established its own Okinawa Summit Promotion Council with much pomp and pageantry.

Its Summit Promotion Council consists of three divisions: Peace Promotion Division, Environment Beautification Division and Original Products Division. The authorities have plans for events linked to the Nago City Summit in Okinawa that will run from July 21st through 23rd. They are to hold a Peace Concert, Photo Gallery Exhibition and Clean-up Campaign this January, to start up their activities. Some more events concerning the Summit Promotion Meeting are also planned for February and March. The Clean-up Campaign will be repeated in March. These two Clean-up Campaigns will be conducted in cooperation with the People's Summit Promotion Council of the Okinawa Prefectural Government. Other than the events stated above, they are going to invite the Prime Minister and First Lady of Canada during the time they visit Okinawa to participate in the G8 Summit in July. Prior to this event, an occasion codenamed G8 Summit Canadian Cultural Festival," sponsored by Okinawa Prefecture People's Summit Promotion Council, will be held from February 25th to 27th at Haebaru-Cho Central Community Hall.
