Date Posted: 2012-03-02

It’s called he Akemio Sky Dome, and it’s a ¥1.62 billion sports facility gracing the Nago City skyline.

The 5,400 square meters sports facility boasts three futsal courts, and four gate ball (croquet) courts that can all be used at the same time, all using artificial turf. Since its dedication, the new Akemio Sky Dome has been used for both children’s events, and by the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters during their spring training camp in Nago City.

Susumu Inamine, Nago City’s mayor, and other local dignitaries staged a grand opening for the Sky Dome, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Finally,” says the mayor, “the dome is open. I hope it fosters children’s physical activities.”
