Man admits to series of indecent assaults

Date Posted: 2012-02-24

A 21-year-old Okinawa man is headed for trial in front of a jury starting March 5th after admitting he’s been tracking female junior and senior high school students and inappropriately touching them.

Keisuke Maeda was arrested by Okinawa Prefectural Police following an investigation of incidents dating back to 2010 and 2011, mostly against young teen girls, but in at least one case, against a woman who he hugged on June 14, 2011, groping her breast before escaping. He was apprehended near the scene and charged with indecent assault. Maeda has admitted to the charge, and also confessed to at least another ten similar cases.

Police say Maeda’s crimes were all planned, as he used a car or motorcycle to escape easily after each crime. He targeted women and young girl students, all smaller than him, approaching them from behind, under cover of darkness, or in empty places. Investigators say Maeda repeatedly engaged in groping and fondling from the back, hips and breasts as his victims were walking to their homes in central and southern Okinawa.

Maeda has already been indicted on charges of bodily injury through indecent assault, indecent assault, and attempted indecent assault.
