Drunk worker admits involvement in four accidents

Date Posted: 2012-02-17

A 21-year-old construction worker has confessed to driving after drinking, causing four accidents, and then fleeing the scene.

Naha Police arrested construction worker Mitsuhiro Isa for driving a mini car without a driver’s license at 8 a.m. Monday, hitting a 52-year-old woman riding on a motorcycle, and then leaving the scene of the accident.

Isa is charged with violating the Road Traffic Law causing an accident resulting in injury. He has admitted to the charges saying “I had been drinking.” The woman suffered serious injuries including a broken rib but her injuries are not life threatening.

After the first accident, Isa hit a taxi, another mini car and a 15-year-old junior high school boy who was walking on the side of the street. He fled the scene of every accident.

When Isa eventually went home, police were waiting for him, and asked him to accompany them to the police station voluntarily, where he was arrested after confessing. No one else was injured.

An alcohol test detected about five times the limit of alcohol in Isa’s breath. Naha Police say they’re planning to include drinking and driving and other charges in the case against Isa.
