Two injured in expressway crash

A car driven by a 24-year –old male hospital staff crashed into the back of a wagon when changing lanes on Okinawa Expressway at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 5.

According to investigation of Okinawa Prefectural Police, the wagon crashed into the center divider, and rolled over onto one side by the impact of the rear-end collision.

A 39-year-old female company employee who had been sitting on the rear seat suffered serious injuries including a broken neck. The driver and a woman who was on the passenger seat of the wagon were not injured. The driver of the car that caused the accident suffered light injuries such as back sprain.

According to the police, the accident occurred on a straight stretch of the expressway between Ginoza and Kin.

Because of the accident, on lane of the expressway was closed about two and half hours from 2:40 p.m., causing about 4 km long traffic jam.
