Drunk JGSDF member held for trespassing

Date Posted: 2012-02-10

Tomigusuku police arrested a member of the Ground Self-Defense Force Naha Camp, Takashi Chiba (31) on charges of breaking and entering on Feb. 5.

Tomigusuku police says Chiba broke into a private house yard in Naha City. Chiba has admitted to the charge, but says he doesn’t know why he did it. The police are continuing the investigation.

According to the charge, Chiba broke into a private house yard of a company employee in Naha at 2 a.m. on Feb. 5. A neighbor resident who saw Chiba trying to open the door called the police. When police arrived at the scene, Chiba tried to escape by climbing up the wall but he was arrested.

Police say Chiba was drunk. They add that he also had broken into next door private house yard just before, and tried to open the door to that house.

Capt. Yasuhisa Tono of the 15th GSDF Support Group said “We apologize Okinawan residents about the incident. We will consistently conduct public service counseling to our troops in order to prevent such incident never happening again in the future.”
