Kyoto products exhibition brings historical 'sense'

Date Posted: 2012-02-03

Kyoto is one of Japan’s most historical locations, having served as the nation’s capital from 794 until nearly 1000, evoking strong feelings about the region’s importance.

That historical approach to Kyoto is being showcased through next Monday at the 33rd Kyoto Products Exhibition at the Mitsukoshi Department Store. A total of 56 shops—33 food vendors and 23 crafts artisans—are displaying their goods on the store’s sixth floor at the exhibition sponsored by Kyoto Prefecture and the Association of Kyoto Products.

The event runs daily 10:30 a.m. ~ 7 p.m. Organizers note the Bento boxes, Nigiri Sushi, Japanese teas, traditional pickles and sweets, Nihon sake on the foods side, and classical sewing kits, clothing, chopsticks, valentine’s day gifts and other Kyoto specialties from the prefecture’s noted craftsmen.
