West wins JBL All-Star contestDate Posted: 2012-01-19 The West, coached by Shiga’s Alan Westover, worked to keep things simple in front of the crowd of 14,000, pushing Newton, Washington and Michael Parker en route to the 120-93 victory. Washington finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Parker topped all players with 26. Golden King Newton finished with 10 points. It was a second consecutive win for the Western Conference team, which took the 2011 match-up 100-99. The West never trailed, leading 40-18 after only one quarter. Golden Kings point guard Narito Namizato was a dynamo throughout, tallying four assists in the first half, leading all players as he fired crisp passes and speedy dribble-drive skills to keep the West ahead of Eastern defenders. Next year’s All-Star Game will be hosted by the Tokyo expansion team, which begins play next season. Commissioner Toshimitsu Kawachi says the game will be played at an as-yet-to-be-named site. |
