American Boys Caught Stealing Public Phone

The owner of the supermarket, one 57-year old Okinawan, called on the police to interven recently, when he noticed that two foreign boys - presumably American - were taking a phone away from the place where it was set. The incident occured on January 2nd, around 9:10 P.m. It concerned a public phone that was installed in front of the supermarket located in Chuo, Okinawa City. The supermarket owner immediately called the police to notify the case of apparent theft. When the police officers from Okinawa City Police reached to the site, the suspects had already fled. The police officers went in search of the suspects around the supermarket and found two American boys in the street not far away from the scene of the crime. Following thorough questioning by the police officers, they finally confessed that they had stolen the public phone, and were immediately arrested on the charge of stealing a public phone equivalent to the amount of 50,000, and 660 in cash that was in the phone. The boys who were arrested are one 12th grader and one 11th grader in the Kadena High School.
