Four teens confess to assault, stealing cigarettes from shopDate Posted: 2011-12-23 Naha Police responding to the incident in the Yorimiya district found a boy who turned out to be an eyewitness who described the culprits. A 15-year-old boy in junior high school third grade and a 16-year-old girl were first arrested, and then police took into custody two 13-year-old boys, both first grad junior high school students. All four have been charged with robbery and breaking into a building. All four have confessed to the charges. Police say the two 13-year-olds grabbed and held the elderly man down, while the third boy grabbed the cigarettes as the girl stood watch at the entrance. Police say the elderly shopkeeper was not injured. The boys told police they’d tried to buy cigarettes at the store earlier, and were turned down. The 10 a.m. theft yielded two packs of cigarettes and a soft drink worth a total value of ¥940 ($12,35). |
