Naha cultural heritage subject of exhibition

Date Posted: 2011-12-23

Naha City is a treasure house of cultural properties, formed by a series of regions brought together for self preservation, and the city’s History Museum now is hosting a ‘Cultural Properties of Naha City’ exhibition.

Located on the fourth floor of the Palette Kumoji building at the southern end of Kokusai street in downtown Naha City, the Naha City History Museum has the Cultural Properties exhibition running through December 27th on a daily basis from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

New townscapes and designs within Naha City bring out the best of the capital city’s history and tradition, exhibition organizers point out. There are more than 170 designated cultural properties, each designated by either the Japanese government, Okinawa Prefecture or Naha City, in various parts of the city.

Naha City boasts the largest number of recognized cultural properties in Okinawa. A series of picture panels at the exhibition showcase the landmarks and cultural properties of the Ryukyu period.
