Baton Twirlers, Marching Bands set to performDate Posted: 2011-12-23 ![]() ![]() ![]() Sponsored by the Kyushu Tournament of School Marching Bands and Marching Band Baton Twirling, the one-day festival brings together a dozen schools, including Nishihara High School Marching Band, which has won several Japanese National Championships as well as the 2009 World Championships in Holland. This 17th Super Marching 2011 Festival is staged in two rounds Friday, one at 11 a.m., and a second stage at 3 p.m. Hamagawa and Takaesu Elementary Schools, Makishi, Futenma, Kakazu, Ishigaki and Yokatsu Junior High Schools, and Nishihara and Oroku High Schools are participating in the marching band competition. The PL Okinawa MBA Mekaru Shining Kids demonstrate baton twirling, while Uenoyama Junior High School performs pom pom and Pepp arts. Juno Color Guard will also stage an exhibition. Special performances are scheduled by Seika Girls’ High School of Fukuoka, and the Fukuoka Fire Bird. All together, about 800 will be involved in the performance before several thousand spectators. Tickets at the door are ¥300 higher than advance tickets available at Family Mart convenience stores. S-Seats are ¥2,000, A-seats ¥1,500 and B-seats ¥1,000. |
