Off-duty firefighter hit with assault chargesDate Posted: 2011-12-23 Okinawa City Police say 29-year-old Wakatsu Tsuhako beat up a 55-year-old man he didn’t even know, as he headed home after drinking alone in a neighborhood bar in the city’s Uechi district. Tsuhako has admitted to the charges of striking the stranger, causing a cut to the victim’s mouth. An eyewitness called police. Tsuhako’s only defense was that “my stress had built up”, but that didn’t please the Okinawa City Fire Chief, Hiroshi Takamiyagi. “It is a very regrettable matter,” he said of the off-duty fireman’s actions. “We will check all the facts and handle this incident strictly, and we will also gather all staff and then lead and give attention again.” |
