Man dies as fire sweeps through Ishigaki homeDate Posted: 2011-12-07 Kiyofuku Miyazato was confirmed dead at an Ishigaki hospital shortly after arrival about 12:30 a.m. His 83-year-old wife was initially unconscious at the hospital, but doctors say she’ll survive. Yaeyama Police and the Ishigaki Fire Department investigators have inspected the fire scene at the one-story reinforced concrete home, and are continuing their investigation to determine what happened. Authorities say the kitchen and a living room wall burned in the house, and both Yaeyama Police and the Ishigaki City Fire Department Headquarters believe that’s where the blaze began. The cause of the fire isn’t yet known. Authorities say they are waiting for the wife to recover, so they can discuss the fire with her in hopes of learning details of what happened. |
