Gospel Choir concert set for Okinawa City

Date Posted: 2011-12-02

Goya Baptist Church in Okinawa City will be the venue December 10th for a Gospel Concert being performed by the Thanksgiving Praise and Worship International Ministries.

The non-profit ecumenical ministry TPW was founded by the Rev. Andre Reynolds in Birmingham, Alabama, the home of black gospel music, in 1997. Aside from touring throughout the United States, TPW has performed in India, Italy and Ireland.

Rev. Reynolds assembled the TPW choir members by recruiting top artists active in their various church denominations and in the world of gospel music. No strangers to Japan, TPW has performed more than 30 times in Okinawa during the last 10 years, carrying out workshops, concerts, and song/dance/mime/theater and bible study. Reynolds says many of Japanís gospel choir directors and performers have been greatly influenced by TPW, and have been inspired to dedicate themselves to spirit-filled gospel music and evangelism.

On this particular Japan tour, TPW has been encouraging and supporting those in the disaster-stricken Tohoku region. Performances/workshops are scheduled for Tokyo, Nagoya, Gifu, Fukuoka, Okinawa and Miyagi. Detailed schedules and venue information is available http://www.tpwjapan.org. The concert at Goya Baptist Church in Okinawa City on Dec. 10th starts at 6p.m. Advance tickets are¥2,000, while at-the-door tickets are ¥2,500. Junior high/High school kids can enter for just ¥1,000, and elementary age and below are free!
