Con man busted after blowing a swindle plan

Date Posted: 2011-12-02

A plot to swindle an Okinawa City real estate firm out of ¥2 million bombed when an intended co-conspirator balked and blew the whistle.

Naha Police arrested 48-year-old Matsunori Matsumoto on charges of swindling the ¥2 million, or at least attempting to, while he worked for the real estate company. Matsumoto approached a 41-year-old man and tried to persuade him to join in the fraudulent sales contract on a piece of land, but the man refused to cooperate.

Investigators say once the Naha City man failed to cooperate, Matsumoto’s swindle effort was discovered, and he was subsequently arrested.
