Date Posted: 2011-11-25

A 70-year-old man dissatisfied by the medical care being given by his doctor took out his annoyance without even an appointment, barging into a Ryukyu University examination room and stabbed the doctor.

Police say Norio Kudaka was a regular patient at the hospital, but was unhappy with care being given. He entered the hospital shortly before noon Monday and located the doctor, then stabbed him with a kitchen knife with a 20 cm blade. His aim wasnít good, investigators say, and while the doctor suffered a stab wound on his left side, the injury is not life threatening.

Witnesses say the doctor had just finished another patientís examination was processing the charts when Kudaka broke in and stabbed the 36-year-old doctor. A police officer who was in the area because of a scheduled medical consultation and a security guard who heard the doctorís scream captured Kudaka, who didnít have an appointment at the hospital on that day.
