Kouri Island prepares for Spring half-marathonDate Posted: 2011-11-25  The organizing committee for the Kouri Island event is ready to open registrations for the April 21st Half-Marathon and 11km Mini-Marathon. Registrations will be accepted starting December 3rd, and remain open through January 27th. A total of 3,000 runners may participate in the Half-Marathon, while another 1,000 can sign up for the 11km run. The events start at Nakijin Athletic Park. The Kouri Island Magic Hour Run is being sponsored by Nakijin Village, Okinawa Times, Nakijin Boad of Education, Nakijin Athletic Association, and Commerce and Industry in Nakijin. Supporting the event are the Japan Tourism Agency, Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau, Nago City, the North Broader Municipality Assocation, and the Fisheries Cooperative Association of Nakijin and Haneji. The registration fee is ¥5,000, and includes operating cost, accident insurance and a coupon ticket. Participation prizes include a tee shirt, certificate and medal for all runners who complete the marathon. Awards will be presented to the top three men and top three women runners in the half-marathon. For the 11km run, the top three men and top three women will receive prizes, as will a prize for men and women 20-70. Applications may be accomplished online at www.kourirun.jp/ or through a postal money transfer form included with the official brochure. All applicants must be aware of their physical fitness level, and assume all responsibility for registering. |
