Brothers drown when their car plunges into ocean

Naha Police are investigating the deaths of two brothers who drowned when their car plunged into ocean from the seawall near Naha Military Port last Saturday.
According to police, a passerby who saw the car plunge into the water called 911. The nearby fire station rescue team arrived at the scene within minutes and found a man floating in the ocean. He was taken to a hospital but attempts to revive him failed.
The teamís six divers inspected the car and discovered another man inside. He had also drowned. Investigators say that the men were brothers, both from Tomishiro. The 54-year-old elder brother, a bus driver, had been driving the car while his 46-year-old younger brother, a businessman, had been sitting on the passenger seat.
Witnesses say that the car had been parked on a parking lot next to the pier when it suddenly lurched forward and plunged into the ocean.
