And this week's winner is...Date Posted: 2011-11-10  She has been on the island only five months, and says that she and her family are still taking in the very different scenery of Okinawa compared to her native surroundings. “South Dakota is very rural with a lot of farm land and open spaces,” she explains. “But so far we like it” she adds. She’s scheduled to stay on Okinawa until May 2015. However, she has had enough time on the island to figure out her favorite local food, which is Japanese Curry. She also likes the current weather. “Fall and winter seem to be very pleasant, and we like it,” she says. As for her plans to see more of Japan, se says “I’m very interested in visiting Tokyo.
