Date Posted: 2011-11-05

A popular fashion outlet mall is expanding, with developers promising 31 new stores including Gap, United Arrows and Beams, is set to open the new shops in December.

Ashibinaa Outlet Mall, operated by Daiwa Leasing of Daiwa Housing Group, has been undergoing renovation the past few months as it moves toward its 10th anniversary, expanding showroom space into what has been a customer parking lot.

Yoshinori Kobayashi explains that the 31 new shops will be complete in time for the 10th anniversary celebration that begins starting in December. Ashibinaa Outlet Mall was opened in December 2002. Kobayashi says “Ashibinaa will be a facility that local people will enjoy shopping at, while also being able to contribute to Okinawa’s economy by attracting tourists from both overseas, with concentration on Asians, and travelers from the Japanese mainland.”
All in all, 35 new tenants will move into the new 6
,740 square meters space, boosting the total number of stores and shops to 101. The 66 current tenants include both food and beverage concessions and restaurants. Besides Beams, 19 of the stores will be opening on Okinawa for the first time. Some, like Tory Burch and B.C. Stock, says Kobayashi, are targeting customers 20~40 years of age.

The expansion includes coffee shops and restaurants, including Starbucks Coffee and Bikkuri Donkey. A grand renewal ceremony is slated for December 8th.
