Pet Dog D1Pic Festival coming on weekendDate Posted: 2011-10-21 ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyone who thinks everything’s going to the dogs would be absolutely right, as the festival is exclusively geared to the pets, and their human families, of course. There’ll be sports games, including a 50-meter dog sprint run, and a game of catch called Catch ‘N Go. The Pet Dog Festival runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. at the park, and at neighboring Toyosaki Chura Sun Beach. Since it’s a doggone doggie festival, the dogs get in free, but humans must pay ¥500 for adults, high school and junior high schoolers, and ¥300 for elementary school students. Dogs entering the festival competition register free. All dogs must register starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the entrance to the festival. All dogs must have proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations when registering. Dogs in heat may not be able to enter. The festival is being hosted by Animal Hospital 22 D1Pic 2011 Executive Committee, with the Okinawa Convention Bureau, Tomishiro City Commerce and Industry Association, the Okinawa Public Health Association, the Okinawa Pet World College and Tokyo Pet Business School sponsoring events. There’s plenty of action, including a Wan-wan Petting Square, Dog Run square, Pet health and training consultation, pet training services, an agility demonstration, Wan-wan Adopt-a-Dog, and a Clown Performance. Toyosaki Seaside Park (Kaihin Koen) is off Highway 31 south of Naha International Airport, near Ashibinaa Shopping Mall. |
