Naha chief engineer busted for touching woman’s hips

Date Posted: 2011-10-14

Yukinobu Kinjo first told Naha City Police he was unemployed when he was arrested on public nuisance charges for improperly touching a 63-year-old woman as they rode up a department store escalator in Naha City.

The 58-year-old Kinjo, who police say was drunk at the time he rolled up the woman’s skirt from her back, and then placed his hands on her hips as they rode the escalator, first gave police false information and a false address, but his story didn’t hold up long as his real address was confirmed by an inquiry to his family. He was charged with violating the Prefecture’s public nuisance ordinance.

Takeshi Onaga, Naha City’s Mayor, apologized after learning of Kinjo’s arrest. Kinjo is the chief engineer of the Naha City Land Rezoning Section. “I sincerely apologize to the woman who’s suffering,” Onaga said. “I regret this scandal, and I will call this to the attention of all staff to prevent a repeat of this kind of incident.”
