It's Rock'n Roll Baby at Torii Rocktoberfest

Date Posted: 2011-10-07

It’s being billed as the biggest and best rock concert on Okinawa, and the U.S. Army’s Torii Station officials say the weekend on-base event is open to the entire community.

Rocktoberfest is presenting the hottest rock bands from both Okinawa and Tokyo Saturday and Sunday, with gates opening at Torii Station for the beach event at 3 p.m. each day. Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Justin Evers says the festivities are more than a mere rock concert, with a BMX demonstration, a Car and Motorcycle Show, burnouts, great foods and awesome fireworks displays each evening.

On-stage musical entertainment Saturday starts at 4 p.m. with Uzumaki, Electric Eel Shock, 2side 1 BRAIN, F.O.D., Jigokuguruma, Run it to Ground, Illuminati, Wrath of Eidola and Giro-Chin performing. Sunday’s music comes courtesy of Jet, All Japan Goith, David Ralston, Splash, Ryukyu All-stars, Porky’s, Gun-Foad, Shaolong to the Sky, and The Infinity Star-World.

“Torii Station’s always been into doing small events and festivals,” says Evers, the MWR director, “but we wanted to build on these, and the idea of Rocktoberfest is to make the event as big as the music itself.” Music is slated to run each evening until 11 p.m.
