Gang members arrested for car sale deal swindle

Kadena Town Police have arrested a 35-year-old reputed member of Okinawan Gyokuryu-kai gangster syndicate, along with a 24-year-old accomplice, on suspicion of swindling almost Y1.5 million from a female friend.

According to police investigation, the two loaned their car to the woman in Dec. 2002. Some time later they took the car back without telling the woman, using a spare key they had prepared. The next day they called the woman and told her that they wanted the car back as they needed it themselves.

As the car was not in its usual place the woman through that it was stolen, and told that to the gangsters, who said that she had to pay for the car. They claimed that the car had been worth Y1,450,000, and she better pay or else.

The scared woman paid the money, but discovered the car on a parking lot outside the gangster’s office. Upset, she contacted the police and told what happened, and the police arrested the two.
