Red Lobster seafood only days away from Okinawa

Date Posted: 2011-09-17

America’s number one seafood restaurant, Red Lobster, is bringing its “We sea food differently” motto to Okinawa.

The culinary delights of Red Lobster’s newest restaurant debut on downtown Naha City’s Kokusai Street in the Cargoes shopping mall next Friday, September 23rd, with grand opening specials available to Japan Update readers through the end of October. The finest seafood in the world will be available at reasonable prices, in cozy surroundings that make you feel like you’re relaxing in the home of a good friend. Fresh lobsters, a staple at Red Lobster, will be flown in from Canada twice a week. The lobsters are selected at the height of the season and put into a state of winter hibernation which guarantees the best quality when served live at your table.

The Red Lobster menu ranges from live lobster and crab to grilled or fried selections, beef steak and chicken, pizza, soup, rice dishes, appetizers and combo plates. Pricing is great, too, with lunches served for around ¥1,000, and dinners for just ¥3,000. Red Lobster is also perfect when planning a party, as the entire restaurant can be rented out to groups of up to 100 people.

The varied menu includes Live Lobster from ¥4,800, with sizes ranging from regular to medium and large, while Crab meals start from ¥1,580, Caribbean Crab Risotto for ¥1,280, Fire Shrimp for ¥580, and Cajun Grill of Chicken with Wild Rice for ¥1,580. The Golden Grilled Lobster with Grilled Chicken runs ¥1,580, Shrimp and Mushroom Ajillo for ¥680, New England Clam Chowder for ¥880, Lobster Bisque Soup for ¥680, a Red Lobster Combo Plate for ¥2,680 and the Red Lobster Course for ¥3,500.

Lunchtime at Red Lobster finds the Daily Lunch Set for only ¥840, a big size 200 gram steak for ¥980, and Sizzling Oysters and Wild Rice for ¥1,150. The Opening Special is easy, day or night: Just mention that you saw this article in Japan Update and receive a free eight-piece bowl of cocktail shrimp, a deal that applies to groups of two or more.

The Kokusai Street Red Lobster opening will bring the total number of Red Lobster restaurants in Japan to 23. The first Red Lobster restaurant on Japanese soil opened in 1983 in Tokyo, and the majority of their subsequent restaurants have also opened in and around the capital, with some large enough to seat 200 guests. In contrast to the wharf-side fisherman’s shack theme much-used in the US, the Kokusai Street restaurant will more resemble a ship’s cabin combined with a harbor saloon atmosphere.

Navigating to the new Red Lobster restaurant is easy enough, as it’s located on the first floor of Cargoes at the north end of Kokusai Street, just north of Makishi monorail station, directly opposite Hotel Royal Orion. There is reserved parking at the rear of the store where customers can park for up to two hours at no charge. Red Lobster will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., with payment both in Japanese yen and by credit card.

Cargoes shopping mall opens on the same day and is home to Red Lobster, Okinawan and French cuisine restaurants, cafes, eateries, home interior stores, fancy goods, galleries, and more.
