Web site offers 360 degree views of local travel routes

Date Posted: 2011-09-09

A new website’s up and running that gives tourists a simulated experience of driving to key locations on the island.

Darwin has developed the site, called Okinawa Drive 360”, which takes tourists along routes to three spots on Okinawa’s main island. The virtual travel to Kouri Island in Nago City, across Nirai-Kanai Bridge in Nanjo City, and to Senaga Island in Tomigusuku, gives viewers a chance to make the trip from a variety of angles, using a mouse to change perspectives, and to fast forward or rewind the journey.

Darwin says it’s currently developing the site so tourists by October will be able to use their smart phones to access the site. It will also be adding step-by-step travel to additional destinations, including Kokusai Street in Naha. The company also plans to create a website simulating a snorkeling experience, enabling visitors to see tropical fish on the bottom of the sea at Zamami Island.

The site is http://www.okinawa360.com.
