Ambience makes Krishna more than just Indian food

The traditions of good and healthy cooking have been a driving influence in Indian cuisine for centuries, but the ability to keep people coming back time and again is much more than just the food.

That’s the mindset of Krishna Restaurant’s manager, who insists “a lot of people come to Krishna for their favorite party, wedding anniversary or birthday.” He beams with pride at the skills of his two chefs, who bring decades of experience in Indian cooking to Okinawa, taking the time to infuse that extra something special. “Our staff cooks and serves with all their hearts,” says Varun Bakushi, “and our customers can enjoy and feel the difference in service.”

Ever since Krishna opened years ago, “we were very conscious of ambience,” he says. “Ambience is very important, and that’s what makes enjoying the food and the service even more special.” It’s difficult sometimes to decide whether the ambience outshines to cuisine, or vice versa, says Bakushi. “Everyone can enjoy eating at Krishna, even if they don’t like curry because we have other real Indian dishes on the menu.”

He adds “it’s my pleasure that customers can enjoy their culinary experiences at Krishna, and we’ve raised the quality level higher and higher over the past eight years.” The restaurant, located on the third floor of Plaza House Shopping Mall in Okinawa City, is the perfect place for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner. Krishna is open daily 11:30 a.m. ~ 3 p.m. for lunch and 6 p.m. ~ 11 p.m. for dinner. Parking’s easy, and free, in the basement or in front of Plaza House Shopping Mall.

Krishna can custom tailor meals. It’s important that the cook who specializes in spices knows how and when to use them to get the taste right,” says Bakushi, but if you don’t enjoy spicy food much, don’t worry. At Krishna, the team will adjust the meal to individual tastes. “I want customers to receive pleasure more than their money,” says Bakushi. I’m happy when customers enjoy Krishna.”
