Concert to fund building new school in earthquake zoneDate Posted: 2011-08-19 ![]() ‘Set It Straight’ is a concert bringing a multitude of musical genre together in the name of teaching the concept of how alternative energy combined with the power of music can come together and be a powerful tool. The complete stage of the August 27th show at Ishikawa will be “off the power grid” using only sun, wind and alternative fuel energy to run generators and power the show. Proceeds of the event are going directly to the Tohoku disaster zone, site of the March 11th earthquake and tsunami. Eco Live Japan will use monies raised from the concert to construct a children’s school in the disaster area, documenting the project right up to handing over the keys to local community leaders. Eco Live Japan is using a mix of Okinawa cultural music, rhythm and blues, Hip Hop, and reggae, with rock ‘n roll bringing the concert, which starts at noon on the 27th, to a conclusion. With the theme “When Nature and Music Meet Your ears”, the ‘Set It Straight’ concert brings together one of Japan’s music legends, Murasaki, and a dozen Okinawa artists for the day. Roro, Risa, Byron Jones, Carlos J. Saldana, Barry Micron, Kaori, Dave Ralston, lady J, Ryukyu Magic, Stormwatch, JamMaster Hi5ive’s and Nine Lives are all participating. Advance tickets are ¥2,000, while tickets at the door will be ¥2,500. Additional information is available at the Eco Live Japan website, www.ecolivejapan.com. The concert venue is Ishikawa Dome. To get there take the Okinawa Expressway and get out at Ishikawa exit. Turn right on Route 75 and you’ll see the silver color Ishikawa Dome a couple of hundred meters down the road on the right. |
