Date Posted: 2011-08-12

An art exhibition “The Birth of Impressionism – the Stream of France’s 19th Century Pictorial Arts” is being held in Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum in Naha through December 11.

Some 80 works by globally prominent masters including Delacroix, Millet, Courbet, Monet, Renoir and van Gogh went on view in Okinawa last week for the first time.

In a private viewing, members of the media and invited guests appreciated the masters’ works. Taiichi Shiraho, the curator of Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum, says “We hope that many residents of Okinawa can enjoy the works of artists who have left great achievements to art history.”
