Yani Tseng makes history with British Open win

Yani Tseng of Taiwan rolled into the history books Sunday with a Women’s British Open victory, her fifth major title at the age of 22.

Tseng, the world’s number one woman golfer, shot a final round 69 at Carnoustie to wind up 16 strokes under par with a four-shot win over Brittany Lang of the United States. Mika Miyazato of Okinawa finished tied for 14th, while Ai Miyazato missed the cut. Germany’s Caroline Masson, who led much of the tournament, fell apart in the final round with a six-over-par 78, closing with a tie for fifth.

Tseng’s victory was worth $392,173, while Mika Miyazato brings home $35,132 for the event.
