Convenience store robbed at knifepoint

Police are on the lookout for a man who broke into a convenience store in Tomigusuku City’s Madanbashi district, held a store worker at knifepoint as he robbed the place and then made his escape.

Tomigusuku City Police say there were customers in the store about 7:30 p.m. when the armed robbery went down, but that there were no injuries. They say the robber brandished and thrust a utility knife at the store employee while he stole ¥30,000 from the cash register.

Eyewitnesses told Tomigusuku City Police the man is 160~165cm tall, in his 50s or 60s, and solidly built with closely clipped hair. They say the robber was wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt and three-quarter pants. Cops are now searching for the man while they conduct their investigation.
