ANA team with SE Asia budget carrier

Date Posted: 2011-07-21

All Nippon Airways is about to enter a joint venture partnership with southeast Asia’s largest budget air carrier to bring more services to Japan.

AirAsia Bhd., based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, already has teamed with local companies to create operations in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. In those cases, AirAsia maintains control of all air operations, while the ownership shares typically rest with local companies.

The new airline will be called AirAsia Japan, according to reports. All Nippon Airways already has a relationship with Peach Aviation, a low-cost air carrier operated by several Hong Kong-based investment companies. Peach has just recently been awarded its certificate to operate by the Civil Aviation Bureau.
