Golden Buffet boasts themes of Gold and Silk Road

Date Posted: 2011-07-14

An even wider range of cuisine is now being served at Sailfish Café in the Renaissance Okinawa Resort, following a massive renovation.

The extensive buffet features everything from Japanese and Asian dishes to a variety of Middle Eastern and European dishes and desserts. The prices are reasonable, with the weekday luncheon buffet set at ¥2,000 for adults. The weekday dinner buffet is a nominal ¥2,800.

Japanese fare includes sushi and a mixed seafood rice bowl, while Chinese and Korean-style dim sum, roast chicken, sweet spicy ribs adorn the buffet line. Adding to the variety are Vietnamese slow-cooked pork belly and Middle Eastern doner kebabs. From Europe, experience the saffron rice with gold leaf, golden cheese pizza, and freshly baked breads. From July steak and turban shellfish risotto will be added to the lunch menu, with roast beef and golden roll sushi joining the dinner lineup.

In all, the redesigned Sailfish Café buffet is featuring more than 100 dishes at lunchtime and 120 in the evening. Desserts are nothing to scoff at; there’s a meter-long jumbo golden fruit roll cake on the line.

Reservations are recommended at Sailfish Café, where the luncheon buffet runs 11:45 a.m. ~ 3 p.m. for ¥2,000 for adults, ¥1,400 for junior high school students and only ¥1,000 for elementary students. The weekend luncheon buffet is ¥2,300 for adults, ¥1,610 for junior high students and ¥1,150 for elementary students.

The dinner buffet runs daily, except Wednesdays, from 5 p.m. ~ 9 p.m. Adults pay ¥2,800 weekdays, junior high school students ¥1,960 and elementary school students ¥1,400. On weekends and holidays, the adults fare is ¥3,500, junior high students ¥2,450 and elementary students ¥1,750 for the all-you-can-eat buffet. Taxes are included in buffet prices, whereas service fees are separate. Infants eat free.

The Golden Buffet can be found in the Sailfish Café on the first floor of the Renaissance Okinawa Resort, located at Yamada, in Onna Village. Reservations are available at (098) 965-0707.
