Okinawa’s Golden Kings re-sign Anthony McHenry

Date Posted: 2011-07-07

Versatile forward Anthony McHenry, who was named to the Basketball Japan League’s Best Five team last season, will be wearing the Ryukyu Golden Kings this fall for yet another season.

McHenry agreed to terms of a one-year contract and will return to the Okinawa for a fourth season, the team has announced. The Golden Kings are also saying that the local team, which won the Western Conference championship this season and fell just short of winning the BJ League title itself, will bring back guards Tsubasa Yonamine and Naoto Kosuge, giving the Western Conference powerhouse a strong nucleus.

The Golden Kings, which has also re-signed Dai Oketani as coach for 2011-12, is also expected to re-ink franchise icon and frontcourt leader Jeff Newton, the only player in league history to win four championships.
