22 bands performing for Peaceful Love Rock FestivalDate Posted: 2011-07-07 ![]() ![]() A total of 22 groups, including two newcomers that won the right to perform through an audition held by the festival organizer, will perform at the island's largest annual rock event, the two-day Peaceful Love Rock Festival 2011 at the Okinawa City Athletic Field near Kadena Air Base Gate 5. Saturday’s lineup includes HY, Orange Range, D-51, All Japan Goith, Zukan, Stereopony, 7!!, Nuchi, The Blue Sky Kick's, Yulo, Civilian Skunk and the audition band AngerPertin. On Sunday, new faces join the veterans as Murasaki, Freddie Eto & Queeness, Katchan Band, Jet, S.K.p, Jupiter + Chico• Masumi • Rimi • Kiyomi, 2side1Brain, Chuck-Wow, Majesty, and the audition band W-D4 performs. Bands will be coming from mainland Japan, and tour agencies are even booking special flights to bring visitors to Okinawa for the festival. Sunday’s performance also includes Okinawa's leading rock band, Murasaki, which began the whole festival concept back in 1983. It was ‘Murasaki Why Now’ that first year, and the event was so successful, it’s hard for organizers to hold back the numbers of bands who now want to perform on Okinawa. The festival runs July 9th and 10th, with gates opening at 1:00 p.m. A one-day ticket is ¥3,800 in advance or ¥4,300 at the gate, while a two-day ticket is ¥6,000.
