Typhoon winds thought cause of Industrial accident fatality

Date Posted: 2011-06-30

Strong winds from Typhoon Meari are being blamed for blowing doors of a heavy truck tailgate while a worker was cleaning the vehicle, trapping the 31-year-old iron manufacturing company man.

The Naha City man was working at Kaiho-cho in Okinawa City, cleaning the bed of a truck after delivering a load of scrap iron to the company site. Okinawa City Police suspect the doors flapping by the strong winds crossing Okinawa were responsible for trapping the worker’s head between them.

Another employee discovered the unconscious worker while another company man called 119. The employee was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
