Painting artist, jazz musician, teaming up for concertDate Posted: 2011-06-09 ![]() ![]() Saori Kanda, a Yamaguchi Prefecture native who was raised in Baghdad, Iraq, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and in Japan, will paint live during the evening concert event starting at 8 p.m. The 33-year-old graduate of the College of Art and Design at Musashino Art University will perform ’Painted Melodies Vol. 2’, while sharing the stage with Trinity, an Okinawa-based instrumental jazz trio. Trinity, with Miyuki Tanaka on keyboards, Mike Robles on drums and Yo Yasuda handling bass, performs original smooth jazz, funk and R & B, using a variety of techniques. “The beauty of the world will be reflected Sunday evening,“ says Kanda. “I connect the elements of skin, earth, paper and clothing with the forms of music, movies, dancing and light. My work reflects encounters that I have had with various kinds of people, and how my body has reacted to them and to the movement of my hands.“ Doors open for the ’Painted Melodies Vol. 2’ signature event at 7:30 p.m. Advance admission is ¥1,500, or ¥2,000 at the door.
