Robber admits stealing from a Urasoe City restaurant

Kouhei Tamaki is in an Urasoe City jail cell, charged with robbing a local restaurant of 4,000 and knocking down the woman owner during the theft incident.

Urasoe City Police say the 36-year-old unemployed Tamaki, who lives in the Makiminato district of the city, barged into the restaurant about 5 a.m. to commit the theft. Tamaki has confessed to the crime.

Tamaki was stealing the money that was on a restaurant counter when confronted by the owner. As he tried to escape, the 53-year-old restaurant owner tried to stop him. He pushed her to the ground as he made his getaway.
