Date Posted: 2011-06-01

A knife-wielding would-be robber tried to hold up a convenience store in Ishigaki City’s Tonoshiro distrct, but left empty handed after the alert clerk told him “we don’t have any cash.”

Yaeyama Police say the man was about 170cm tall, medium build, wearing a black tee shirt, denim pants and brown shoes. The robbery attempt came after the man broke into the convenience store about 5 a.m., brandishing a kitchen knife as he threatened the 59-year-old cashier.
