Habitual thief busted again for stealing

A 29-year-old man is again behind bars after being arrested for breaking into a Naha City apartment building and stealing cash and jewelry.

Joji Tokuman, who’s already spent time in prison for previous theft convictions, has a record of stealing and burglarizing a vehicle, and has confessed to another 12 crimes police had been investigating. Cops say at least nine of those cases will go to trial.

Thefts from an apartment building in the Makishi district resulted in ¥1.56 million yen is goods. Tokuman says the jewelry he stole was sold and exchanged for cash, went for his living expenses. The burglaries occurred in succession over a several months period. His latest was in an apartment building in broad daylight, where he took nine items, including ¥200,000 in cash, plus jewelry.

Cops say Tokuman, whose total theft collection of cash and jewelry totals ¥6.289 million. Tokuman’s modus operandi was to break in through windows in a bathroom, or from an unsecured balcony.
