Urasoe woman arrested fo posing as earthquake victim

Okinawa cops have made their first arrest of someone claiming to be a victim of the March 11th earthquake and tsunami in eastern Japan.

Misaki Makishi was arrested for posing as a victim of the disaster, appealing for monetary donations. Shes charged with theft and defrauding the public of 1,500 cash. The 46-year-old Urasoe City woman admits to the charges, telling police I thought I could get money easily if I said Im a victim of the earthquake.

Urasoe Police say this is the first time such an arrest has gone down. Makishi, who lives in the Ohira district, bilked an 80-year-old Urasoe City woman. She told her I came to Okinawa because I was in the Japan earthquake. I want to take my child to a hospital, so please lend me money.
