La Pachanga joins in raising funds for disaster reliefDate Posted: 2011-03-24 ![]() ![]() La Pachanga, a bar that first began as Cool, Cono 11 years ago, then evolved to Sabor Latino and now to the current Hispanic night spot, will stage the event from 5 p.m. to the wee hours, with all proceeds going to the Japan Red Cross to aid victims at Tohoku. Entry is free, but donation boxes will be placed throughout the club, and sponsors say they’re “asking everyone to give generously to the cause.” Deejays representing a broad range of styles and cultures will be performing, including DJ Keith Gordon of seminal electronic duo Ryukyu Underground, and party specialist DJ D-Vine from Germany. Also on hand will be Okinawan house guru DJ Hi-ko. Free foods representing cuisines from around the world will be available, and Okinawa’s finest belly dancers will stage a special show. In normal times, La Pachanga is a Latin bar that showcases Hispanic culture from around the world. Owner Miguel is from Puerto Rico, and passionately brings his island style to Okinawa. Fridays and Saturdays cover rhythm of island life to the sounds of salsa, meringue, bachata and reggaeton. La Pachanga is located above Mary Jane’s on Route 58 in Kitamae. To visit, go north from the Foster Commissary Gate, past Lawson’s. It’s just before the little river. Open Fridays and Saturdays 8 p.m. until late, La Pachanga is open Sundays beginning at 5 p.m. 大きな地図で見る |
