Kadena's 18th Wing conducts operational readiness exercise

Date Posted: 2011-03-04

Sirens, loud speaker broadcasts and smoke can be seen and heard coming from Kadena Air Base this week as the 18th Wing conducts an operational readiness exercise.

The five-day exercise began Monday, with a one-day break Tuesday to avoid interrupting high school graduations taking place across the island. No sounds and no flights took place Tuesday, but itユs exercise business in full swing through the end of the week.

The 18th Wing has explained exercise procedures to help exercise participants focus on the LORE. People in communities surrounding Kadena, as well as those living on the base, can expect to experience disruptions of daily routine. Anyone with questions about the exercise can contact their unit EET or 18th Wing Plans and Programs at 634-2900.
