Man robs convenience store, says glad to be arrested

A 28-year-old unemployed Urasoe City man says he's glad police arrested him for threatening employees of a convenience store while robbing it.

Hiroyuki Fujino didn't injure any staff or two female customers at the store in Serikyaku district of Urasoe City waving knife as he made threats and took エ26,300. Police say Fujino entered the store about 4:15 a.m. and swept goods from shelves before he demanded money from the cashier.

Urasoe Police are trying to determine a motive for the robbery, although Fujino told them "I'm glad I'm arrested because of my bad action." Based on witness descriptions of the incident, Fujino's behavior was described as violent. He's been charged with suspicion of robbery and with damaging property.
