The Okinawa Prefectural Museum has been extensively and systematically researching, collecting and preserving materials and information about Okinawa's history and culture, and this weekend making the guided tours available in English, Chinese and Korean languages. The special tours are organized as a demonstration project of the Japan Tourism Agency, and participants' cooperation to fill out questionnaires after the tour is appreciated.

Museum entry fees for the museum are adults エ400, college and high school students エ250, elementary and middle school students エ150

The half-hour exhibits tours begin each day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. "We hope to provide visitors from overseas a greater understanding of Okinawa," said a museum official, adding that "this guided tour experience will give deeper insight into the nature, history and culture of Okinawa."

The museum this week launched a new exhibition, ‘Science of Bone', where visitors are able to observe and touch cow bones. The exhibit explains both human and animal bones in a series of tableaus. Visitors will also be able to wear a "bone suit" decorated with bones of humans, and will be able to compare human and animal bone structures. "Screen images can see only an appearance, said 28-year-old museum visitor Taku Kubota, "but this exhibition lets one see the bone's deep side. There are many surprises.

The ‘Science of Bone' exhibit runs through March 21st.
The museum has an English language website at http://www.museums. pref.okinawa.jp/english/museum/index.html
