European cuisine and terrific sunsets

Date Posted: 2011-02-11

Bacchus is no ordinary Okinawa restaurant, featuring no fewer than 50 varieties of wines, plus culinary delights from Italy, France Spain and other European locales.

Located next to the entrance to Araha Beach, Bacchus presents itself as a Western-style bistro with a host of tantalizing dishes that the ever-efficient staff knows how to match up with just the right wine. Add to that, low prices, and patrons know why Bacchus is becoming so popular. Now in its fourth month, Bacchus is featuring Stracotto of Chicken in February for only エ950.

As Bacchus was being created, a literal hands-on effort by owner Osamu Hirata and his staff, "chefs worked to create a wooden deck terrace, trading their fry pans for hammers and saws. I marveled," says Hirata, "as they painted floors and made it a very special place." Bacchus is the perfect stopping point after a walk along the beach, or a walk with the family pet. There are tables, and a counter, too.

Italian beers, cocktails, and awamori join the liquors menu, while there's no shortage of delicious sweets for dessert. Bacchus, which draws its name from the Gold of Liquor from Greek mythology, is open daily except Tuesday 6 p.m. ~ 2 a.m. The exception is Friday and Saturday, when the bistro is open until 3 a.m. Bacchus has a party plan, permitting reservations for groups of 25~60 people. There's parking available in front of Bacchus, and also at Araha Beach parking area.

Their telephone number is 098-989-6393
